PPATEC, part of the Pennsylvania Petroleum Association (PPA), a not-for-profit trade association, offers hands-on technical training solutions for HVAC and energy jobs.
A new building at the Phoenix, Arizona, campus of National Technical Institute will house all plumbing and electrical classrooms and laboratories, while the HVAC and commercial refrigeration lab space in the existing building will be expanded.
"We face an aging infrastructure that continues to plague our best opportunity to provide the best educational experience that our students deserve and desire," said MSCS Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins
The building was just too small, the heating system was uncomfortable and inefficient and cooling was only provided in a few specific areas, making the school a miserable place to be. But, a high-tech restoration changes all that.
Educating the overseers of these buildings on the importance of keeping HVAC systems up and running, even in the summer months, can help prevent damage to both the building and the system itself.
Twelve schools are the newest recipients of the Skills Lab equipment grants, which are projected to reach over 1,000 students this upcoming school year.
Upgrades at three buildings in the West Branch Local School District in Beloit, Ohio, are expected to save the district more than $200,000 a year in energy and operational costs.
