According to WIRED magazine, researchers have highlighted the issue of remotely manipulating home and office air conditioners to create a surge and take down the power grid. The hack targets remote shut-off devices that utilities install on air conditioners to conserve energy during peak summer periods.

To improve cyber-threat information sharing and analysis, Johnson Controls, a leader in energy efficiency and building controls, announced a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Cybersecurity and Communications.
It takes a village to keep data safe, with manufacturers, contractors, and consumers all playing a role. But there is no question that manufacturers will continue to take the lead in cybersecurity, designing products that help keep customers safe and secure.
Every week, my office receives at least a half dozen calls from small, local business owners in desperate need of a hacked website cleanup, and the volume of these calls appears to be increasing.

UL CAP uses the new UL 2900 series of standards to offer testable cybersecurity criteria for network-connectable products and systems to assess software vulnerabilities and weaknesses, minimize exploitation, and more.
Hackers are creating cyber security threats in all types of networks. This session, with a panel of experts, will discuss industry best practices for securing data and control networks and a roadmap for risk assessment and solutions.
