June 4, 2002: Unitary A/C Shipments Jump 23% In April
ARLINGTON, VA — According to statistics from the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), combined U.S. factory shipments of 705,605 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps in April represented a 23% increase over April 2001.
Heat pump shipments were up even stronger — 156,488 units, an increase of 29% from the same month last year.
Total shipments year-to-date stand at 2,187,650 units, up 4% over the same period last year.
