LA VERNIA, Texas - PowerCold Corporation announced that it has developed a new fluid cooler in various sizes, incorporating DuPont's Caltrel® engineered polymeric materials, for air conditioning applications. According to the company, the worldwide market for fluid coolers is estimated to be over $500 million.

On May 9, 2003, DuPont Canada Inc., E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, and PowerCold Corporation entered into a joint development agreement and a license agreement relating to DuPont Caltrel fluid energy transfer system applications. Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, PowerCold selected fluid coolers as a field for a project application and DuPont has agreed to this selection for an exclusive three-year period.

Commenting on the major attributes of using plastic coil in PowerCold's fluid cooler design, Dean Calton, president of PowerCold Products Inc. and head of PowerCold's R&D, stated, "The plastic does not corrode like the traditional copper and aluminum coils; it is lighter, stronger, and more portable. Plastic coils adapt well to retrofit for existing installations. And the system can operate both wet and dry."

PowerCold ComfortAir Solutions Inc. will install its patented BreezeMasterâ„¢ system equipped with an evaporative fluid cooler made with Caltrel polymer material in a Burger King restaurant in Bakersfield, Calif. According to the company, the system is expected to increase the efficiency and capacity of the existing air conditioning system by as much as 50 percent while using only one-tenth of the power. It will serve as the primary air conditioning source with the existing air conditioning unit as a secondary backup.
