Green Power Awards
The Department of Energy, EPA, and Center for Resource Solutions have presented several companies and organizations with the first annual Green Power Leadership Awards. Honorees include:Kinko’s, which bought renewable power in 10 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington.
City of Santa Monica, which was the “first city in the nation to purchase 100% renewable energy for its facilities, and will renew that contract for a third year.” Carnegie Mellon University’s Environmental Practice Committee, which agreed to purchase more than 4 million kWh from a wind farm for one year. University of Colorado, Boulder’s students, who “agreed in a referendum to increase their fees by a dollar to purchase 100% wind energy for three student-run buildings.”
