Oregon Wants Wind Power
The Energy Trust of Oregon, a nonprofit organization that is promoting clean energy in the state, recently collected wind power project proposals for the production of 25 to 100 MW of electricity. The Energy Trust would like to initiate one or more projects that must begin generating power before the federal production tax credit for wind energy expires on December 31, 2003.
Successful bidders will sign a long-term purchase agreement with a major electric utility — either Portland General Electric (PGE) or PacifiCorp. Selection is scheduled to be made this fall.
