The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has announced startup of a new facility that generates 1.5 MW of electricity from landfill gas. Methane emissions from the Lopez Canyon Landfill power 50 microturbines from Capstone (Chatsworth, CA), which produce enough power for approximately 1,500 homes. This adds to a 6-MW landfill gas power plant already in operation at the site.
