Side-stream filtration is a means of boosting cooling tower chemical water treatment, increasing energy efficiency, and reducing maintenance costs, the company says. Facilities managers can design chemical water treatment programs around total dissolved solids, pH, hardness, and other easily measurable parameters, the company states. Side-stream filtration addresses the less predictable variations, such as dust, soil, soot, and organic debris scrubbed from the air, in cooling tower water quality that occur during normal operation, which are, in the end, a major source of fouling, says the manufacturer. The company says side-stream filtration should not be seen as a substitute for chemical water treatment, but as a complementary technology. The company's filters are the first standardized line of media filters that are designed specifically for cooling water systems, the company claims.
