MSA Instrument Div.: Refrigerant Monitor
A low-temperature version of the Chillgard RT refrigerant monitor is designed to operate at a temperature down to -40 degrees F (-40 degrees C). The monitor detects down to 1 ppm, over a range of 0 to 1,000 ppm; other monitoring ranges are possible, says the company. According to the manufacturer, the advanced photoacoustic infrared-sensing technology enables the Chillgard RT to detect an individual refrigerant with high specificity, while maintaining the necessary level of sensitivity. The monitor features reduced cross-sensitivity to other refrigerants, cleaning solvents, and other common industrial compounds that can cause false alarms with monitors based on less-advanced technologies, the company states. It senses ammonia and over 60 commonly used refrigerant gases, the manufacturer says.
