Trane, an American Standard Co.: Chiller Refrigerant Purger
March 4, 2004
The EarthWiseâ„¢ purge system removes air, moisture, and other noncondensables from low-pressure chillers that use R-11, -113, or -123. The company says the system has an advanced touch-control screen display, which allows more information to be viewed, in a simple, easy-to-read format. It is ARI-rated at 0.02 pounds of refrigerant per pound of air emissions, without the need of an external carbon emission collection canister. The purger has a self-re-generating carbon tank that eliminates the service cost and refrigerant loss associated with separate carbon tanks, the company says. It has a free-flow design that returns refrigerant to the chiller condenser and eliminates the need for tank float valves and control switches, states the manufacturer.
