Canadian A/C Shipments Increase

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Canada — According to the Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), residential air conditioning shipments increased 41% during the second quarter of 2002. Residential furnace shipments increased 7%, and chiller bookings increased less than 1%.

HRAI stated that unit heater shipments and commercial air conditioning shipments in Canada de-creased by 18% and 5% respectively. For year-to-date, residential air conditioning shipments still lead by 37%, followed by chiller bookings at 16% and residential furnaces at 14%

Also, the institute says that unit heater and commercial air conditioning figures both dropped by 20% and 5% at the end of June 2002.
