WATERBURY, CT — MJ Daly & Sons, Inc., a leading provider of mechanical and fire protection contracting services here, has been formally acquired by Xcelecom, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of UIL Holdings Corp., New Haven, CT.

The acquisition of MJ Daly marks Xcelecom’s ninth to date as it builds a network of contracting and services companies throughout the eastern U.S. MJ Daly broadens Xcelecom’s coverage across New England, with its existing operations in Connecticut and Boston.

MJ Daly provides specialty mechanical contracting services, including fire protection, plumbing, heating, service, and pipe fabrication. The company has annual revenues topping $25 million.

Founded more than 100 years ago in 1882, it brings a long-standing reputation as a top firm within the New England region to Xcelecom. The contractor also provides a full complement of design-build services, along with a three-shift pipe fabrication shop at its Waterbury location.
