The Chillgard® RT refrigerant monitor recognizes refrigerant leaks, then gives a local visual and audible signal of a refrigerant leak or spill, the company says. The microprocessor-based monitor provides continual detection of low levels of refrigerant gas, monitoring over a range of 0 to 1,000 ppm, with sensitivity as low as 1 ppm. The unit uses photoacoustic infrared sensing technology. Eight, 16, or 24 relays can be used to indicate caution, warning, and alarm conditions, and to activate horns, strobes, or ventilation equipment. When used in conjunction with the optional Remote Relay Module and Multipoint Sequencer, the monitor can give discrete relay outputs on a per-channel basis. When a chiller is converted to a different refrigerant, the monitor can be modified to detect that refrigerant.
