Weather Risk Conference Planned

NEW ORLEANS, LA — Strategic Research Institute will hold a conference on June 28-29 in New Orleans, LA. The conference, entitled “Weather Risk Management in the Energy Industry,” will introduce parti-cipants to weather derivatives and how they can be used to manage risk in the oil, coal, gas, and utility industries.

The conference will also explain the benefits of using weather risk management and how it can protect profits. The latest forecasting technology along with case studies of companies that have installed risk management policies will also be presented.

The chairmen for this event are Dr. Robert Dischel of Weather Ventures LTD and Dr. John Dutton of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Pennsylvania State University. Several other speakers will be on-hand including representatives from CMS Energy, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and Colorado State University.
