METAL: As the metal construction industry evolves, METALCON 2026 brings contractors, fabricators and industry leaders together to explore innovative solutions.
July 9, 2026

As sheet metal contractors face growing pressure from labor shortages, changing building codes, tighter project schedules and increasing demands for energy-efficient buildings, METALCON 2026 will provide a place to find solutions, sharpen skills and connect with the organizations shaping the future of the industry.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, METALCON will take place October 7-9, 2026, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The event will bring together contractors, fabricators, manufacturers, architects, engineers and industry associations covering every aspect of metal construction, including HVAC, architectural sheet metal, roofing, metal buildings and fabrication technology.

"For 35 years, METALCON has been where contractors come to see what's next," said Judy Geller, Vice President of Tradeshows at METALCON. "Whether attendees are fabricating ductwork, installing architectural sheet metal systems or looking for ways to improve productivity and profitability, our association partners provide valuable education and practical guidance they can take back to their businesses."

Education Focused on Today's Challenges

For sheet metal contractors, staying competitive means keeping up with evolving codes, workforce development, emerging products and changing customer expectations. METALCON's association-led education program is designed to address those challenges head-on.

One session likely to resonate with contractors involved in HVAC systems, metal buildings and building envelopes is "Reflective Insulation & Radiant Barriers in Metal Building Design: Solving Real-World Thermal, Moisture and Energy Challenges."

Metal buildings present unique performance challenges because steel readily transfers heat and is susceptible to condensation when temperature and humidity conditions change. The session will explore how reflective insulation and radiant barrier systems can be used alongside traditional insulation to improve thermal performance, reduce moisture issues and enhance energy efficiency in roofs, walls and HVAC applications.

For contractors, the discussion offers practical insights into managing condensation, improving building performance and understanding how reflective insulation products fit within current energy codes and industry standards.

Staying Ahead of Code Changes

Code compliance remains a moving target for contractors, especially as energy-efficiency requirements continue to evolve. That's the focus of "Industry Outlook: Metal Construction Code Updates: What's Changed and What It Means."

The session will examine recent and upcoming changes affecting the metal construction industry and explain how those updates impact design, fabrication and installation practices. Speakers will discuss the practical implications of new requirements and help attendees understand how to avoid costly compliance issues, permit delays and project redesigns.

For sheet metal contractors, staying informed on code changes can mean fewer surprises during project execution and a better understanding of customer expectations and specification requirements.

What Will 2027 Bring?

For contractors trying to navigate uncertain market conditions, "Industry Outlook: 2027 – The Future of Metal Construction" will take a broader look at the factors shaping the industry.

The panel will examine economic conditions, material availability, supply chain challenges, labor concerns and regulatory developments expected to influence construction activity through 2027. Industry leaders will discuss how these trends are affecting project delivery, manufacturing and construction practices, while offering perspectives on the opportunities and risks ahead.

For HVAC and sheet metal contractors, the session provides a chance to better understand where the market is headed and how business decisions made today may impact competitiveness over the next several years.

More Than a Trade Show

For HVAC and sheet metal professionals, METALCON offers more than product displays. The event provides access to fabrication equipment, software solutions, building envelope technologies, architectural metal products and the industry expertise needed to navigate a rapidly changing marketplace.

Whether contractors are focused on commercial HVAC systems, custom fabrication, architectural sheet metal installations or expanding into new markets, METALCON delivers practical ideas and connections that can help improve operations and position businesses for future growth.

"The real value of METALCON comes from bringing the industry's decision-makers and experts together," Geller concluded. "Those conversations lead to solutions, new partnerships and insights that contractors can immediately apply to their businesses."
