2025 Top 40 Under 40: Edward O’Connor

As the HVAC industry continually evolves, requiring those in it to adapt quickly and overcome any obstacles along the way, so do Edward O’Connor’s goals.
“My goals are always evolving; once one is achieved, I set new targets to ensure continuous growth and improvement,” O’Connor said.
(That sort of screams Top 40, doesn’t it?)
O’Connor’s strengths have always been in math and science, which led him to a major in mechanical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). That led to a sales internship at D&B — thanks to Jonathan Palumbo, vice president of service, whom he still works with to this day, O’Connor said.
“This opportunity opened my eyes to a path that aligned more closely with my interests than the traditional design engineering track,” O’Connor. “It immediately sparked a passion that has only grown stronger over time.”
At its core, O’Connor said D&B is a customer-focused company that aims to be a reliable partner for each customer they work with by advocating for them on even the most complex of projects.
“Our goal is for clients to choose us not out of necessity, but because they genuinely want to work with us,” O’Connor said. “A key focus of mine is empowering my team to embrace a customer-first mindset and deliver exceptional service.”

Of course, money is always part of the equation — fortunately, that normally comes naturally with happy customers.
“I’m proud to say our business is both growing and successful,” O’Connor said. “I’ve found that when you build a culture centered around customer satisfaction, financial success naturally follows.”
O’Connor’s entire career has been with D&B, so naturally, the day he was named partner — undoubtedly a recognition of his contributions — stands out as his biggest career accomplishment.
“This milestone reflects years of consistent performance, leadership, and commitment to delivering exceptional results in a highly competitive environment,” O’Connor said.
Another accomplishment of O’Connor’s that stands out is the role he played in the launch of D&B’s turnkey division — developing a new stream of revenue for the company by successfully enhancing the capabilities of his team to manage and deliver complex, turnkey HVAC solutions.
“I’ve become a trusted resource for top players in the industry who rely on my creative strategies, adaptability, and results-driven approach,” O’Connor said.
