Description: RenewAire has introduced a factory-installed bypass economizer option for its HE Series commercial rooftop energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) — models HE07, HE10, and HE1.5X. The bypass economizer enables “free cooling” by using ideal outdoor air conditions to reduce HVAC system energy consumption. It operates through two dampers: a normally open exhaust damper and a normally closed bypass damper. When conditions are favorable, the system reroutes return air around the energy recovery core and exhausts it, allowing untempered outdoor air to enter the space. This feature helps reduce energy use and complies with IECC and ASHRAE 90.1 economizer requirements. Installed at the factory, the bypass economizer eliminates fieldwork and includes low-leakage dampers, a weather hood, and controls — either dry bulb or enthalpic. A programmable controller allows for setpoint selection based on outdoor air temperature and enthalpy. Each bypass system is manufactured to fit its respective unit’s CFM: HE07RT 166–694 CFM; HE10RT 250–1,100 CFM; HE1.5XRT 375–1,650 CFM. It’s available for rooftop and indoor models, and MERV 13 filtration is optional due to the unit's ability to handle increased static pressure. All components are AHRI, ETL, and AMCA-certified, with a two-year parts warranty and a 10-year core warranty.
