AMESBURY, Mass. — HVAC and IAQ products manufacturer Munters has opened a new factory for desiccant humidification products in Amesbury, Massachusetts.
The 430,000-square-foot site is also home to the Munters service business and will produce a range of climate-control products for the North American market, a press release from Munters said. Munters is a 70-year-old company based in Sweden.
The investment is an important part of the company’s long-term growth plan, and the company’s goal is to double it in size while also cutting its climate footprint in half by 2030.
"I am very pleased that the facility is in place. The inauguration is an important step in our long-term growth strategy and climate ambitions, where we are investing in regional production for regional markets. The facility in Amesbury is proof of that strategy, and with it, we will better meet the needs of the American market,” said Henrik Teiwik, president of the AirTech business area at Munters.
The new facility was built with sustainability at its core, achieved through the electrification of processes and equipment, significant energy-efficiency improvements, and the use of renewable electricity, including through a rooftop solar array, the press release said.
“We set out to design and build a new facility that would be an enhanced environment for our employees, be attractive for new talent, and better for our business overall,” said Andrew Cook, senior vice president for the Americas for the Munters AirTech business. “We’re very proud of this facility, and we couldn’t have accomplished it without the support from the city of Amesbury. We could not have chosen a better location.”
Nearly 350 people, working in operations, research and development, sales, service, and administration, work at the new facility.
