HVACR Groups Looking Forward to Trump’s Presidency

Though our president-elect doesn’t take office until January, HVACR groups are already looking forward to what they think is to come: more business-friendly regulation. Senior political analyst at BIPAC, Jim Ellis, told ACCA members during a November livestream that he was happy with Trump’s decision to nominate Lee Zeldin to lead the EPA. Mark Valentini, vice president of legislative affairs at PHCC, said he foresees openings to changing policies intended to curb the use of natural gas. Sean Robertson, ACCA’s vice president for membership, advocacy, and events, said during an ACCA meeting that regulations like the ban on non-condensing gas furnaces, are on the table to be challenged. In regard to changes to the refrigerant transition, Robertson said the HVACR industry should be careful what they wish for, as manufacturers and contractors have been working on the change for years.
