YEAR-TO-DATE: Year-to-date U.S. shipments of residential gas storage water heaters decreased 1.6%, to 1,878,971, compared to 1,909,076 shipped during that same period in 2022. Residential electric storage water heater shipments decreased 0.4% year-to-date, to 2,084,248 units, compared to 2,093,059 units. Commercial gas storage water heaters increased 8.5%, to 38,328 units, compared with 35,322 units. Commercial electric storage water heater shipments increased 35%, to 61,464 units, up from 45,525 units. Shipments of gas warm air furnaces decreased 22%, to 1,254,908 units, compared with 1,608,687 units. Oil warm air furnaces decreased 41%, to 6,859 units, compared with 11,629 units. Combined shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps decreased 14.6%, to 3,757,023 units, down from 4,398,201 units. Central air conditioners decreased 20.4%, to 2,113,691 units, down from 2,654,667 units, and heat pump shipments decreased 5.7%, to 1,643,332, down from 1,743,534 units.
