SINGAPORE — Carrier Transicold Pte. Ltd. presented its 1 millionth unit during a ceremony at its Singapore manufacturing facility. The milestone unit, a PrimeLINE unit with XtendFRESH atmosphere control system, was presented to CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest container shipping company and one of Carrier’s long-standing and valued customers.

“The 1 millionth container unit is an accomplishment not only for our company and the thousands of employees around the world who have helped make it possible, but for the marine shipping industry,” said David Appel, president, Carrier Transicold & Refrigeration Systems. “It demonstrates the technological progress we are making to achieve greater efficiency while maintaining best-in-class performance, helping move shippers toward more environmentally sustainable refrigerants and bringing further innovations in system efficiency and cargo protection along the way.”

According to Chiou Fun Sin, president, Global Container Refrigeration, Carrier Transicold, 52 percent of world seaborne trade is delivered by container vessel, and 65 percent of refrigerated products are transported in containers.

“On any given day, the value of cargo delivered by Carrier Transicold units alone is valued at $6 billion," he explained. "Indeed, Carrier Transicold systems and our global service and support network play a significant role in ensuring the well-being of a growing global population.”

Carrier Transicold's PrimeLINE unit offers several environmentally sustainable features including the unit’s validation by UL Environment as having a 93 percent recyclability rate, joining Carrier’s NaturaLINE™ unit as the only container refrigeration units to achieve recyclability validation. The PrimeLINE uses R-134a refrigerant.
