The Spectroline® TES-31 Tamper-Evident Straps are designed to eliminate refrigerant cross-contamination in air conditioning and refrigeration systems and recovery equipment. According to the company, the straps ensure the purity of the system while protecting the integrity of the service equipment. Touted as a benefit to both the building owner and the service technician, TES-31 does not need special tools for installation. For the owner, the straps ensure that the system hasn’t been contaminated with a foreign refrigerant, which can affect system performance and longevity, said the company. For the technician, the company noted that the straps can help protect his reputation and help guard against unqualified repairs.

To install, technicians position the strap over the service port, tighten, and trim the excess. Completing the installation requires the application of the label provided as well as making a record of the unique serial number found on the strap. The straps come in a zip-lock storage bag complete with 10 tamper-proof tie straps with serial numbers and matching labels.
