Earth Networks Launches Connected Savings Energy Intelligence Platform
Provides next-generation Intelligent Demand Side Management capabilities
GERMANTOWN, Md. — Earth Networks has announced the launch of its Connected SavingsSM platform (formerly WeatherBug Home) to provide consumers with energy savings and comfort by delivering energy intelligence through the integration of Internet of Things (IoT)-connected smart home devices, proprietary weather data, and its patented and predictive algorithms.
The company said Connected Savings is an Intelligent Demand Side Management (IDSM) platform with a comprehensive demand response management system (DRMS) that allows for tailored demand response (DR) control strategies and a partner-friendly customer engagement portal in addition to automated energy efficiency and actionable home energy insights. Connected Savings serves as a scalable platform to meet the demand response and energy efficiency needs of utilities and smart home OEM vendors. Its new Connected Savings Intelligence (CSI) portal offers full DR event management tools for standard or intelligent DR with flexible dispatch and operations management capabilities.

By aggregating device data, along with smart meter and its own weather data, the platform implements a variety of tailored DR strategies. Embedded predictive algorithms produce highly accurate capacity and load forecasts to drive DR event planning and management for both residential and small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers. Its scalable, flexible architecture fits the DR and energy efficiency needs of today while allowing for expanded capabilities in the future.
• Energy Efficiency — Through its IoT-centric ecosystem of leading smart home partners, including Honeywell, ecobee, and Emerson, Connected Savings intelligently optimizes devices for automated energy efficiency programs that deliver results. The platform also provides consumers with personalized data-driven insights via a Home Energy ScoreCard that enables energy savings while maximizing comfort.
• Customer Engagement — The Connected Savings Engagement portal enables customers to easily enroll in utility programs, connect their devices, access their customized Home Energy ScoreCard, and other utility information, all from the palm of their hand.
