Tecumseh is deeming 2015 as the year of new products.
During a press conference Monday at the 2015 AHR Expo, the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based company pledged its support behind a new board of directors; a new CEO, Harold Karp; and the power of 2, introducing the AK2, AJ2, and TA2 compressor lines. Each compressor is designed to offer high-efficiency performance and capacity in a smaller package. The AK2, AJ2 and TA2 Series are all smaller, more efficient, and in most cases, quieter, when compared to the company’s previous units. All three are also optimized for green refrigerants such as R-290 (propane), R-600a, and R-1234yf.
The Tecumseh compressor offering also includes new VSC air conditioning and commercial refrigeration scroll and TA light commercial refrigeration compressor models, an AG “stretch” version with increased capacity, an Eclipse2 direct current (DC) model, and a new higher-efficiency AW2 air conditioning model.
“We took our AE compressor and started over from the beginning,” said Keith Gifford, director of global marketing. “We ended up with a group of HC [hydrocarbon]-optimized compressors that offer more capacity in the same footprint, or smaller.”
