ToughGard R is manufactured with a commitment to environmental stewardship as well as rigorous monitoring and energy management that reduces the amount of energy needed to produce it. The duct liner now features a sustainable plant-based binder that contains no added formaldehyde, acrylics, or dyes, and is GreenGuard Gold Certified for low chemical emissions. Its main raw material is sand — an inert, abundant, and naturally renewing resource — and it includes a high percentage of recycled glass. The durable, black surface is also a water repellent, highly cleanable, and contains a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered antimicrobial agent to ward off potential for mold and microbial growth on the liner surface. ToughGard R absorbs equipment and air-rush noise over a broad spectrum of sound by trapping and dissipating it within the glass fiber matrix, contributing to better interior acoustics. It also provides excellent thermal-insulating properties and lower HVAC operating costs by reducing energy consumption. Its thermal properties help control condensation, which helps improve IAQ by reducing unwanted moisture.
