Robur Corp.: Gas Absorption Heat Pump
Capable of producing hot water up to 140°F, the RTA modular gas absorption heat pump system uses renewable outdoor heat to provide a heating efficiency up to 129 percent. Up to six factory-assembled modules on a rail set are available. Under nominal conditions, each heat pump module’s capacity provides a heating output of 123,500 Btuh. The heat pump is ideal for integration with boilers as a hybrid system to raise overall hot water plant efficiencies to well over 100 percent, the company said. According to the manufacturer, the unit is best applied in high-efficiency, low-temperature hydronic heating systems, allowing exceptional design flexibility for commercial and industrial facilities. The Robur RTA Series utilizes Canadian Standards Association (CSA)-approved gas absorption heat pump (GAHP)-A modules. The heat pump has stable operation at extreme temperatures; at 0° the heating efficiency of the GAHP-A module is still around
100 percent.
