Maine Energy Director Visits School
Official Visits Northeast Technical School to Observe Advances in Heat Pump Initiative
BANGOR, Maine — Patrick Woodcock, director of the Maine governor’s energy office, recently visited Northeast Technical Institute to observe strides being made in advancing Maine’s heat pump initiative.
Woodcock discussed how education in energy-efficient fields is vitally important to the state’s economic development and toured NTI’s facilities. He also met with and interacted with students and NTI HVACR instructor Joe Mishou. Woodcock and Mishou also discussed in detail the benefits of NTI’s HVACR program and its inclusion of propane and natural gas certifications.
Heat pumps and natural gas are an important part of Maine’s heating conservation and revenue. Mishou explained that heat pumps “use no hydrocarbon gases, making the unit efficient and environmentally friendly.”
Bangor Hydro has donated three heat pump units to NTI over the past six months.
