ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America Educational Institute (ACCA-EI) Standards Task Team (STT) announced an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) public review period for its standard for Mechanical Systems for Swimming Pools and Spas. This standard establishes the unique mechanical system design requirements for indoor pool and spa applications. The public review period will close on Jan. 25, 2010.

The proposed standard has been created for mechanical and HVAC system designers and includes considerations for: Envelope moisture/thermal barriers, design conditions for humid spaces, control space temperature, controlling space pressure, indoor air quality issues, engineered ventilation requirements, conditioning of outdoor and makeup air, heating and cooling loads, evaporation loads, heat recovery, water heating and water treatment, equipment choices, control options and operational strategies, supply air cfm and distribution and duct systems.

The proposed standard is referenced as BSR/ACCA 10 Manual SPS - 201x. and can be downloaded at www.acca.org/tech/ansi/. Comments must be submitted using the ACCA response form (available at the same Web page) by Jan. 25, 2010.
