NORWALK, Conn. - Emcor Group Inc. was selected by CNA insurance companies as the first recipient of its Chairman’s Safety Innovation Award. The award recognizes an organization’s exceptional safety performance and commitment to safety and accident reduction.

According to Emcor, its special recognition from CNA is the result of the company demonstrating an exemplary commitment to safety and accident reduction over the past three years, distinguishing itself in the construction industry by a number of measures and programs. For example, the company reduced the number of its employee injuries by 36.3 percent since July 2005. Its Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for 2008 was reduced to 2.53. This rate reflects a 5 percent reduction over 2007.

“We are extremely honored to be recognized by CNA as a leader in safety, a strategic imperative for Emcor that is at the cornerstone of our corporate culture,” said Frank T. MacInnis, chairman and CEO of Emcor Group Inc.
