GR-8 insulation is designed to achieve a thermal resistance of R-8 around HVAC ducts. With its highly reflective facings, the insulation can reflect up to 96 percent of radiant heat transfer, reducing heat loss from ductwork, and increasing the overall energy efficiency of the HVAC system. According to the manufacturer, the product is easy to cut, safe to handle, does not cause skin irritation, and can significantly reduce the risk of condensation. It is comprised of a polyester-based thermal insulating core, sandwiched between two highly reflective aluminum facings. The insulation can be used in temperatures ranging from -50 to 180°F.
