GE ECM by Regal-Beloit: Fractional-Horsepower Motor
The standard ECM 142R is the newest generation of the high-efficiency ECM, tailored specifically for outdoor, fractional-horsepower (hp) applications. It is designed as an energy-saving solution for split system outdoor units, package units, or any other prop fan air-moving application that requires a 1/3- or 1/5-hp, 300- to 1,200-rpm motor. According to the manufacturer, the motor has warranty return rates low enough to rival conventional permanent-split capacitor (PSC) motors. The unit gives access to the same efficient power of the ECM, but offers a PSC-like speed-tap interface, says the company. It has a brushless-DC permanent-magnet design.
