DEERFIELD, Ill. - In a recent article, Consumers Digest highlighted furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, and hybrid systems, choosing multiple units and models as “Best Buys.” Each selection was chosen on the basis of energy efficiency, noise levels, features, and reliability.

 

For gas-fired furnaces, the Bryant Evolution™ Plus 90i™ received a premium selection rating; the Rheem Prestige 90 Plus RGFD, a midrange selection; and Comfort-Aire Conquest 90® GL Series, an economy selection. In the oil-fired furnace category, Lennox Elite® Series 025 received a premium selection; Thermo Pride OH6 Highboy, a midrange selection; and a Comfort-Aire-Patriot 80® an economy selection. The heat pump category winners were Bryant Evolution™ 288A, with a premier selection; Lennox Elite® Series XP16, with a midrange selection, and Rheem Classic Series RPPB, with an economy selection.

 

For gas-fired boilers, the Monitor MZ Series received a premium selection; Burnham Revolution® Series a midrange selection; and Lennox Conservator an economy selection. In the oil-fired boilers category, Monitor FCX received the premium selection; Weil-McLain Ultra Oil, the midrange selection; and New Yorker® CLW Series the economy selection.
