A Number Of People Shredded Enron Documents

WASHINGTON, DC — Representative James Greenwood (R-PA), chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, announced that subcommittee staffers have discovered that the shredding of Enron documents was carried out by a number of people at accounting firm Arthur Andersen.

He said that as many as 80 people were involved in the destruction of Enron-related audit documents. Greenwood stated this makes it questionable that employees were acting on their own.

Hearings by the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee were scheduled to begin on Thursday, Jan. 24.
