Investment banker Harris Williams & Co., has announced the sale of Follett Corp., Easton, Pennsylvania, to The Middleby Corp., Elgin, Illinois. Follett is a designer and manufacturer of ice and medical-grade refrigeration products.

The new Building Load Deferment (BLD) system, from HIGHMARK, New York City, is a pre-engineered thermal energy storage system, enabling energy usage to be deferred to off-peak hours via ice storage and then utilizing that ice for the building’s chilled water system during peak hours, for energy savings of up to 50 percent.

Ice Energy, a provider of distributed thermal energy storage solutions, has announced the launch of Solar + Ice, which bundles its Ice Bear thermal energy storage unit with rooftop solar PV to deliver a cost-effective solar-plus-storage solution.

Ice Energy announced it has been awarded a five-year contract from Riverside Public Utilities to provide 5 megawatts of behind-the-meter thermal energy storage using Ice Energy’s proprietary Ice Bear system. The program will kick off this spring.
