Subscribe and you may walk away with a projection TV

By Mark Skaer
May 9, 2000
By the time you read this page, you should know that the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration (IAHR) Exposition is just around the corner. It’s what we preview in this issue.

On your way to this page, you certainly saw the list of approximately 1,000 show exhibitors. Provided in this issue is a rundown of what to expect to see on the floor of the Dallas Convention Center Feb. 7-9, plus what to see and do while in the Lone Star State. (And please tell me you did notice the two-page show floor plan, which graces pages 12 and 13.)

The initial IAHR Expo of the new millennium is going to be a big one for The News. At the Business News Publishing (BNP) booth — and that’s booth No. 1410 — there’s going to be a sharp-looking, 53-in. Hitachi projection TV.

Yes, we’re going to give that high-tech “boob tube” away to one very smart attendee — one who made sure to subscribe or renew his/her subscription to The News while at the Expo.

Wahoo!

This is the one and only time I wish I were not an employee of BNP. You see, BNP employees are ineligible to win the TV set that would make Homer Simpson megadrool.

Doughnuts with sprinkles and Duff beer are nothing compared to this beauty, which comes complete with built-in Dolby Pro Logic sound, 3-D Y/C digital comb filter, and DVD special input. About the only thing this TV lacks is the correct final answer for Regis Philbin.

The return on investment is darn good. Ask any investor. Do the math. Get a one-year subscription to The News while at the Expo, and the return could be $2,179.99 — the value of this Hitachi. Add to this the years of pure enjoyment watching your favorite televised event on the big screen, located right in the comfort of your own home.

You’ll be the envy of the neighborhood (and chances are you’ll have more friends than you knew you ever had — especially around the Super Bowl, March Madness, the NBA finals, World Series, etc.). For the full rules and regulations, come to booth 1410 and sign up. You won’t regret it.

A wise investment

In truth, it is an investment that will keep on giving, projection TV or no projection TV. When you subscribe to The News, you will receive important, up-to-date industry news and information each and every week. Our staff researches, analyzes, and reports on topics and events that concern and affect the hvacr industry.

And we’re only going to get better.

Wait until you see our “new look,” which debuts in the Feb. 7 Show issue. The art directors at BNP have pooled their time, talents, and skills to give The News a more up-to-date, fresh, and appealing face. You will see the surprising difference. We firmly believe you will like the change.

In 2000 and beyond, we also vow to supply you more information that you requested in our last contractor-subscriber reader survey. You want more stories on 1) business management; 2) service/maintenance and troubleshooting; 3) new products and technology; 4) education and training; and 5) regulation and legislation — and you will get this, and more. Each and every staff member has been assigned one of the above subjects. Therefore, look for more coverage on these topics in The News.

At the very least, stop by the BNP booth — again, that’s booth 1410 — between 10:30 a.m. and noon on Feb. 8. We call it our “Meet the Editor” session. I will be there along with publisher Taggart Henderson and News staff members to meet, greet, discuss, cuss, and anything else you want to cover during this time.

Of course, I may just ask you to subscribe while you’re at our booth. There’s a 53-in. Hitachi projection TV to be won.
