David E. Fearnow Sr., 59, died July 28, 2008. He was an instructor of HVAC at Kent Skill Center in Grand Rapids, where he taught for nine years, in addition to his 24 years as an instructor at Grand Rapids Community College.

Eleven HVACR and plumbing industry associations were represented at the first HVACR Industry Alliance Education and Training Staff Summit held in Washington, D.C. The summit was conceived and sponsored by the alliance, an organization of the major HVACR and plumbing associations’ chief staff officers.

Ellis Guiles of TAG Mechanical testified before a House Small Business Committee on behalf of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) as to “The Role of Green Technologies in Spurring Economic Growth.” Guiles’ testimony focused on the expanding demand for higher efficiency HVACR equipment that lowers utility and maintenance costs, improves IAQ, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

In an effort to protect and enhance independent HVACR contractors in Illinois, the new HVACR Illinois State Association (HISA) has been formed. One of its primary focuses is to form an effective lobbying presence in Illinois’ legislative matters that affect HVACR contractors and their businesses.
