The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) reported that the Michigan legislature passed a significant utility Energy Efficiency Resource Standard (EERS) as a part of comprehensive energy legislation. Michigan joins 17 other states that have EERSs, according to ACEEE’s latest tally.
The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) added a new speaker to its notable lineup of special guests scheduled for its 2009 convention set for Feb. 28-March 1. Bob Costas, NBC’s principal anchor for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, will be anchoring the closing ceremonies for the MCAA convention.

Emcor Group revised its corporate safety platform launching a new safety initiative, the Emcor Safety and Productivity Program (SPP). The program, which designates Emcor subsidiaries that have earned SPP recognition, mirrors some aspects of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
GE Money and ECR International announced a multi-year agreement to offer the GE Money Home DesignSM program on HVAC and hydronic equipment for both residential and commercial buildings. The private-label revolving credit card program is managed by GE Money’s Sales Finance unit.
