Bryant Heating & Cooling dealers from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Iowa held a Rubber Duck Regatta and raised $14,000 to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The dealers were gathered for a conference at the Great Wolf Lodge in Ohio. During the event, the dealers were assigned a rubber duck for each $10 donation.
According to a study released by the Freedonia Group Inc., world demand for HVAC equipment is projected to rise 5.8 percent per year through 2012, reaching a total of $83.7 billion. The study reported that demand in the United States is expected to exhibit recovery by 2012 after a period of sluggishness resulting from the housing crisis.
Grainger’s Canadian subsidiary, Acklands-Grainger Inc., located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, acquired the assets of Excel Industriel located in Granby, Quebec. Excel is a business-to-business broad-line distributor of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supplies. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

One lucky HVACR contractor recently drove away from a distributor event in a new 2008 GMC Sierra 4x4 pickup truck. But he wasn’t the only one who got lucky that day. On May 16, the Behler-Young Co. gave the truck away to one of five qualifying key holders during a special event at their Grand Rapids location.
