Carrier Corp., a unit of United Technologies Corp. acquired
Noresco, a leading independent energy services company. Established in 1984, Noresco has implemented
thousands of efficiency and infrastructure upgrade projects that reduced energy
and water consumption and lowered operating expenses for a wide range of customers.
Economic
numbers are dipping across the board as the United States, among other nations,
endeavors to rebalance its shifting economy. The HVAC and construction
industries are not immune to the resettling as is evidenced by the numbers that
were released reporting September’s status.
Taco
has announced its 2009 Factory Training Schedule of advanced hydronics training
sessions to be held at its Cranston, R.I., facility. Three advanced courses for
hydronics installers and designers will be offered next year. Each class runs
for two consecutive days.
The
International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) partnered with
elearning-training.com to assist, primarily, developing countries in equipping
refrigeration and a/c engineers with the skills and knowledge required for the refrigeration
industry. The
organizations have teamed to encourage continuing professional development.
Carrier
Corp. participated in dedicating the Willis H. Carrier Engineering Library at
the headquarters for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and
Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. The
new library houses rare books, including an
autographed copy of Willis Carrier’s Modern Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation.
Jack
Hasick, 84, passed away Nov. 7, 2008, surrounded by family at the Southwood
Hospice. During his 50-plus-year career in the HVACR industry, Hasick was
involved with many organizations, such as the Refrigeration Service Engineers
Society (RSES), where he became international president.
Emerson Climate Technologies released the first HVACR Spanish language North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification preparatory courses through Emerson’s Educational Services. The courses currently available in Spanish are “Understanding Digital Thermostat Operation” and “Resistance and Low Voltage.”
The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) is now accepting nominations for its 2009 Awards for Excellence. Awards to be presented include the ACCA Award for Excellence in Residential Contracting, the ACCA Award for Excellence in Commercial Contracting, and the Jeff Forker Award for Excellence in Training.
Johnson Controls presented Ken Webb, Johnstone Supply brand manager, with the company’s Distinguished Technical Service Lifetime Achievement Award on Oct. 15 during the Coleman® Service Managers Meeting in St. Louis. The award recognizes individuals who have provided an exemplary level of technical support.
