New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has announced the rollout of K-Solar, a program under the $1 billion NY-Sun Initiative, to help public school districts throughout New York state lower their energy costs with solar power.

There is a gap of knowledge between the professionals who design, fabricate, and install ductwork and the experts who inspect it after it’s in operation. The Building Inspectors Program, a course presented by the International Training Institute (ITI), has been developed to bridge that gap between sheet metal contractors and building and fire inspectors.

Sandia National Laboratories’ Institutional Transformation (IX) model is helping the federal laboratory reduce its energy consumption and could help other large enterprises do the same. The IX model allows planners to experiment with energy conservation measures, such as replacing old HVAC systems, before making expensive changes.

The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (PHCC) Educational Foundation has announced the winners of its 2014 scholarships. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a pre-publication Federal Register notice in response to the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute’s (AHRI’s) petition for reconsideration of DOE’s final rule on energy efficiency standards for walk-in coolers and freezers (WICFs). DOE announced it is denying the petition.

PPC has announced plans for a comprehensive suite of energy management services for industry and public sector clients, called EMneXus. As a part of these plans, PPC signed a partner agreement with energy management software company Enerit to offer clients an energy management-as-a-service model.
