London South Bank University’s (LSBU’s) School of The Built Environment and Architecture has received a research grant to investigate the potential of a promising new technology — cryogenic energy storage (CES) — to solve the problem of how to store excess renewable energy.

A new building envelope sealing technology designed to seal the outer shell of homes and buildings was unveiled at the first annual Aeroseal Success Summit. According to Aeroseal, the new technology is the first automated system used to effectively find and seal air leaks in building structures.

Honeywell announced that its new Solstice® refrigerant for supermarket refrigeration has been named a finalist for the R&D 100 Awards, sponsored by R&D Magazine.
The variable refrigerant flow (VRF) market in the U.S. just got a bit more interesting. Johnson Controls, Hitachi, Ltd., and Hitachi Appliances announced the companies have completed their global joint venture agreement and will immediately begin operations of Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning.
