Renovate America, a provider of residential Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing, announced it has topped the $1 billion mark in energy and water conservation home improvements financed since the inception of its Home Energy Renovation Opportunity (HERO) Program in 2011.

The event will be open to all residential contractors, manufacturers, and service providers in the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical industries.

While the U.S. ranked fourth in the top 10 markets, it’s on the upswing. VRF continued to gain market share from small- to medium- size chillers in 2014, according to the report, and BSRIA expects market growth to continue at an 11 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) between 2013 and 2018.

UTC Climate, Controls & Security, which manufactures products under the Carrier, Bryant, Payne, and ICP brand names, has announced a price increase of up to 5 percent on residential and commercial HVAC equipment.

While 94 percent of homeowners know that the furnace can release deadly carbon monoxide gas, more than half (53.7 percent) don’t take simple steps that can prevent that from happening. That is a major finding of a survey completed on behalf of Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.

HVAC contractors must develop policies and procedures for technicians that please non-smokers, yet don’t vilify those who do smoke. It’s a problem with no easy answer; one that is likely greyer than the cloud of smoke at the end of a cigarette.

Since 2004, Schneider’s 72 Degrees has grown from six employees to 21. The company offers 100 percent residential service, repair, and replacement services with 13 vehicles in its fleet. It ended 2014 with just under $3 million in sales. 

The Thursday release of the NOPR tentatively ends a one-year period of uncertainty for the HVACR industry, which has adapted to the new energy conservation standards without any enforcement guidance from DOE.
