New Store Will Be First LEED Certified Supermarket in New York

Price Chopper Supermarkets, a Golub Corp. company, is building one of the nation’s most environmentally friendly food stores. The new store in Colonie, N.Y., will be able to generate 60 percent of its own power using UTC Power fuel cells and will be the first LEED certified supermarket in the state of New York.

The Trane Residential Systems CleanEffects™ air cleaning system reduces accumulation of dust on surfaces in homes according to anecdotal reports received by Trane from customers who have purchased the product. Honeywell Helps Housing Authority Cut Utility Bills, Emissions

Honeywell has announced a $25.1-million energy efficiency and conservation program for the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP). The program, which combines traditional facility retrofits with geothermal technology, will help the housing authority save approximately $3.2 million in utility costs per year.

MeshNetics and BFM AB have announced the successful deployment of the ZigBee-based wireless energy management system called Link2Web at an industrial facility in Sweden that reduced the facility’s energy costs by 37 percent over the course of one year.

Ice Storage Technology Improves Manufacturing Environment

When outside air temperatures approached more than 95°F, FiberLok’s process area temperature would exceed tolerance, resulting in lost production time. To combat the problem, the company installed two Ice Bear® systems and cooling coils in existing ductwork downstream of the conventional a/c system.
