If you want to talk about IAQ with Dennis Wierzbicki, chief operating officer of Mid-Way Supply Inc., you may want to change your lexicon. The company has shifted its focus to Indoor Environmental Quality. “One of the things we’ve done is change it to IEQ,” he said. This includes anything that affects the indoor environment.
It is very difficult to categorize a company like Rx4 CleanAir & Aqua Defend. A look at the company’s website makes it seem like a pure retail outlet, but the company’s IAQ service goes much deeper than that. “We address all the issues in a residential home,” said Joe Maglio, president.
There is no doubt that consumers want healthier homes today. An HVAC system air filter upgrade is one way contractors can simultaneously increase customers’ residential IAQ and generate more business. The central air conditioning/heating unit is the perfect appliance for providing cleaner IAQ, but few consumers realize it.
“If it was easy,” said Brian Cranney, president, Cranney Companies, Danvers, Mass., “everyone would be doing it. Surround yourself with smart people and build a team that is second to none.”
A real sense of confidence has returned to small and mid-sized industrial manufacturers according to the Prime Advantage Group Outlook (GO) Survey. A number of trends are continuing to affect all segments of the IAQ market. Industry competitors face off daily to win a place in the HVACR contractor’s comfort product arsenal. With this in mind, manufacturers create and design new products every year to help them to install, service, and maintain HVACR equipment with convenience and ease. This year is no exception, and the battle between manufacturers’ products was fierce in The NEWS’ 2010 Dealer Design Awards program.
In the Dealer Design Awards’ Miscellaneous category, Build Right Products LLC’s FilterLock received gold, Honeywell International Inc.’s YP900A Delphi Combustion Efficiency Panel took silver, and Rheem’s HP Series Hybrid Water Heater received a bronze.
The NEWS’ seventh annual Dealer Design Awards’ Contractor Services and Software category winners have added new fuel to the digital business fire. No longer content with triplicate receipts and large filing cabinets, these products help contractors conduct business more simply and efficiently.
The winners in The NEWS’ Dealer Design Awards residential controls category include the ecobee Smart Thermostat (gold), icomfort Touch™ Communicating Touchscreen Thermostat by Lennox Industries (silver), and BalancePro from Arzel Zoning Technology (bronze).
