Although the HVAC industry has been around for more than a century, portable heating and cooling is a relative rookie to the scene. Having just made a mark in the U.S. beginning in the 1980s, the market has continued to grow and evolve into what we see today.
 

During the off cycle, or especially during a long shutdown, refrigerant will want to travel, or migrate, to a place where the pressure is the lowest. 

A popular electrical component used on many control circuits is the step-down transformer. It is the power source for a separate lower-voltage circuit which typically controls the operation of a system.

According to Rob Shortt, vice president, Cold Air Products, Norfolk, Va., the portable heating and cooling sector is widely driven by inclement weather and the impending need for comfort.

Even though portable HVAC equipment is often selected as a temporary answer, the units are commonly being cemented as permanent solutions.

It’s very easy for an HVAC contractor to sit back and complain about how bad things are because the weather hasn’t turned hot yet. The fact is, extreme weather in either direction certainly increases our business.
