Standards Aim to Make Home Performance Industry More Effective, Profitable

The Building Performance Institute Inc. (BPI) announced its BPI-2100-S-2013: “Standard for Home Performance-Related Data Transfer” and BPI-2200-S-2013: “Standard for Home Performance-Related Data Collection” have been published as BPI standards.

The HOMES Act would create the Home Energy Saving Retrofit Rebate program, which would provide $2,000-$8,000 in rebates directly to the consumer, depending on the retrofit project’s total energy savings.
The road to wider use of HC refrigerants remains a rocky one — although it is still being navigated. The latest developments involve more revisions to the regulatory landscape, the tweaking of a refrigerant mix to make it more energy efficient in certain applications, and, as always, warnings about flammability.
