March 6, 2013: New York Invests in CHP to Generate On-Site Power and Heat During Grid Outages

March 6, 2013
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced $20 million in funding to support combined heat and power (CHP) projects that will provide continuous on-site power and heat during grid power outages. These projects are in support of recommendations made by the governor’s NYS 2100 Commission in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Biomass Boiler Provides Savings, Sustainability to University of Missouri

The University of Missouri (MU) in Columbia, Mo., is being commended for its commitment to energy reduction and sustainability through the installation of a new biomass boiler. The university completed a $75 million project to install a new 100 percent biomass-fired boiler, which is expected to reduce fossil fuel use by 25 percent.

New York High-Rise to Install Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power System

January 21, 2013
Tecogen Inc. announced that it has signed a contract with the Brevoort East, a luxury 323 unit high-rise co-op in Greenwich Village, N.Y., to provide a turnkey Tecogen combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) system. The system will deliver electricity, space heating, domestic hot water, and air conditioning to the building’s common areas.

Jan. 7, 2013: CHP for Commercial Buildings to More than Double by 2022

January 7, 2013
Annual installations of combined heat and power (CHP) systems for commercial buildings were projected to reach nearly 39 gigawatts (GW) in 2012. According to a report from Pike Research, a part of Navigant’s Energy Practice, that number is forecast to more than double by 2022, reaching 79.5 GW.

Dec. 17, 2012: Annual Fuel Cell System Shipments Forecast to Surpass 600,000 by 2017

December 17, 2012
Annual shipments of fuel cell systems will grow rapidly over the next five years, from less than 29,000 in 2012 to more than 600,000 by 2017, according to a report from Pike Research. The market value of the fuel cell industry is expected to reach $15.7 billion by 2017.
