Contractors do Their Part for Puerto Rico

When The Unified Group, a group of independent mechanical contractors from all parts of the U.S., had their November 8 business meeting in Puerto Rico canceled, the contractors wanted to get on a plane for Puerto Rico and help rebuild the devastated island. The group’s executive director, Janet Kelleher, investigated to see if the contractors could get onto the island, and if materials were available for the rebuilding process.

Approximately 100,000 Air Conditioners in Houston Area May be Damaged by Flooding and at Risk of Failure

October 16, 2017
Houston-area homeowners and businesses with properties damaged by the recent historical flooding are potentially facing looming problems with their climate control systems that may not be obvious to the untrained eye. Carrier and Air-Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), a trade association representing the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) industry, are warning that standing water associated with flooding can result in system failure well after the water has receded.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports a 70 percent chance that this year’s hurricane season will produce three to six hurricanes. Two of them are predicted to be major hurricanes with winds of 111 mph or higher. Fireman’s Fund Risk Service Consultants urges consumers to be prepared.
