The attic stairs cover is an energy-saving cover for folding, pull-down attic stairs. The product reduces air leakage between house and attic, saving heating-cooling loss and energy loss, states the company. To install, fold the cover into shape, install weatherstripping on the attic stair frame, and drop the cover down onto the weatherstripping. The cover embeds into the weatherstripping, creating an air seal, the company says. According to the manufacturer, new R-7 reflective and R-50 insulation kit options maximize the performance of the cover by restoring the insulation removed when the stairs were installed.
