Both Loadsoft 6.0 and Residential 5.0 HVAC load calculation software programs now work with Autodesk Building Systems (ABS). ABS is a software tool that provides integrated AutoCAD-based building systems design and analysis. The company says that it allows the user to do HVAC duct and piping design as opposed to just drafting. From the ABS drawing, the user can import the building information, including room dimension and number of people, into Loadsoft and Residential. Each zone and room in the ABS drawing becomes a system and room in Loadsoft and Residential. After the calculations are performed in the software, the total cooling and heating load results can be exported back to ABS, which can aid in duct and piping design. The load calculation programs are able to communicate with ABS using the Green Building XML schema (gbXML).
